As demand grew for a more flexible and secure SaaS offering, InScope turned to Stormit to help deploy their AML platform on AWS—achieving strong security, compliance, and rapid scalability.

As a provider of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) solutions, InScope’s top priority is maintaining a secure and compliant environment for its customers. With support from Stormit, an AWS Consulting Partner, InScope successfully deployed its new environment on AWS in a short time, while meeting the highest standards of security and compliance.

InScope is a young and innovative company based in Malta that builds powerful solutions for businesses seeking Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer applications. Their flagship product, InScope-AML, is a complete compliance solution designed to help organizations meet international regulations and local authority requirements. Today, InScope supports a global client base that includes respected names like Mazars Group and NCMB Consulting.

InScope was experiencing growing demand from its customers and prospects for a SaaS offering that would give more flexibility and avoid the limitations of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX). They evaluated several cloud providers that could meet their technical needs, while also delivering the highest security standards and compliance certifications. These requirements, however, could not have been achieved with their existing on-premises

Security sits at the heart of InScope’s business, where customer data must be stored with maximum durability and access limited only to authorized personnel. Our team designed a highly secure cloud architecture built on Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) for encrypted data at rest. The data is distributed across three Availability Zones and automatically replicated to another AWS Region to ensure reliable disaster recovery.

To secure all communication, InScope established a VPN connection and enforced HTTPS and SSL protocols between AWS resources and the outside world. To protect against unauthorized access and monitor traffic, Stormit implemented AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF). For fast and reliable content delivery worldwide, InScope uses Amazon CloudFront CDN. To streamline infrastructure management, Stormit leveraged Amazon CloudFormation to automate resource deployment and implemented cross-region replication using AWS Lambda, ensuring resilience, consistency, and speed across environments.

To tackle their challenges, InScope decided to migrate its core technology platform to Amazon Web Services, a leader in cloud infrastructure and Platform Services. AWS’s Global Cloud Infrastructure is highly secure, extensive, and reliable, offering more than 200 fully-featured services from data centers around the world. With on-demand capacity, consumption-based pricing, and rapid innovation, AWS was an ideal choice.

At this stage, InScope partnered with Stormit, an AWS Partner Network (APN) Selected Consulting Partner. Stormit carefully planned the migration and designed the architecture following AWS best practices. Today, InScope can deploy new environments on demand through flexible EC2 instances while robust security policies ensure they meet and exceed compliance requirements.

The AWS architecture now allows InScope to deploy a new environment on demand and in a short period of time. An agile environment that responds quickly to an increasing demand from their end-users by easily scaling their EC2 instances as needed. They were also able to implement necessary security policies to meet and exceed compliance requirements.
